Frederick (Rick) Biedenweg, the president and founder of Pacific Partners Consulting Group, has over twenty-five years of experience in higher education management. Prior to forming Pacific Partners, he was associate provost at Stanford University. First as Director of Institutional Research and Policy Studies where he was responsible for the University’s Long Range Financial Forecast, various management studies (Admissions, Financial Aid, Publications, Information Technology, and Libraries), academic policies (faculty planning, faculty early retirement programs, etc), and financial analyses (endowment payout policies, financial studies of the 50Megawatt Cogen project, etc.). Then, as Associate Provost for Libraries and Information Resources, Rick developed and implemented three-year financial and strategic plans for academic and administrative computing, networking, telecommunications and the libraries.
Rick Biedenweg, along with Catherine Gardner (as co-founders of PPCG), have focused on analytic and policies studies for Higher Education and Museums. These include financial studies, long range forecasts, facilities renewal planning and forecasting, economic impact studies, enrollment planning, endowment payout policy studies, and strategic planning. Among their 70+ clients include Stanford, Berkeley, MIT, UCLA, the University of Texas, the University of Chicago, Mt Holyoke and the Smithsonian.
Biedenweg recently served on the NSF review panel on Networking Infrastructure for Education. Education: Biedenweg received his undergraduate degree from Harvey Mudd College (B.S., mathematics, 1974), his master’s degrees from Claremont Graduate School (M.A., statistics, 1975) and Stanford University (M.S., electrical engineering, 1978), and his Ph.D. from Stanford University (Ph.D., operations research, 1980).
