James F. Galbally is a founding principal of The Presidential Practice, which is a part of The Learning Alliance, and provides counsel to newly appointed first-time and transferring presidents of colleges and universities. Prior to forming this practice, Jim was at the University of Pennsylvania from 1983 - 2003.
Jim is a member of the faculty of The Wharton School (Management Department) and Graduate School of Education (Higher Education Division). He retired from his
administrative position of Associate Dean at Penn's School of Dental Medicine in June 2003. At the dental school, he was responsible for budget planning and finances, facilities, personnel and information systems management, new
business development, clinic and private practice programs, and student admissions and financial assistance; he was also Adjunct Professor of Community Oral Health.
Dr. Galbally is actively involved in higher education research and planning initiatives. He is Principal Investigator on a National Library of Medicine project that is assessing the feasibility of establishing a distributed dental education program. He also serves on the faculty of the American Dental Education Association's Faculty Leadership Program.
